Taken

Post by Revolver »

Watched it last night, it wasn't great to say the least. I watched it all though so it couldn't be that bad.

I think it just gets a little too carried away with itself and Liam Neeson just doesn't fit the retired spy type character all that well. He acts it well (as you'd expect) but you just feel some of the set pieces get a little OTT. It needed to be more sophisticated.

It's also amazing how grown up and hot the daughter looks when she's shown all drugged up (thats not a spoiler, we all know she gets taken its in the name of the film) yet is the most typically annoying 17 year old American before
Spoiler:Highlight the text in the black area to see it.and after the whole thing, i wish she got killed for a bit of non-hollywood ending.

A few people at work have said it's one of the best films they have seen in a long time.

I will give it a look at some point.

8O

OK so maybe I'm a little over critical towards it, but it definately isn't that good... It tries too hard to be clever, serious and cool. It just ends up being OK.

Good rating on iMDB - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0936501/

But I have noticed a lot of films recently getting in the 7's even a few creeping in to the 8's that are awful.

It's worth a 7, 8 is pushing it. I think im being critical because a lot of people were commenting on how good it was. You could give it an 8 I suppose, at the end of the day I didnt want to turn it off and it did keep me interested to the end without getting boring.

I just didn't really get excited or feel any tension either...

I though it was very good and neeson played the lead well.... I have always liked him in stuff though so maybe im biased. Completely agree on the whole skagged up daughter thing though, schwing! Wait…is that wrong?

i hate to chip in but i didnt rate it... started off very good idea... it was the turning into james bond half way thru i didnt like... i wish i could dodge bullet like nielson did in that hotel room in css.... just sort of moved his arse a bit when the bloke emptyed a clip fron a mac 10 at him..very clever..

and the breaking the huge piope over his head when he was hancuffed to it was priceless....

i love action packed films ...but it has to be a bit more belivable for me im afraid....

better than layer cake and transporter though ill give you that.....

As if. Layer Cake is a completely different film to Taken or Transporter for a start. What are you on Mr Sparks?

And yeah I forgot to mention the Bullet dodging pipe breaking rubbish at the end. It was all just too much once the bullets started flying.
