To buy a new system?

Post by Revolver »

OK so, I've been thinking I want to get myself a new system. That laptop has served me well but unfortunately whilst fine for Source/WoW and older games (which i play mostly, which is why i bought it) I do want to play some of the newer stuff. And when I say new stuff, some of it isn't even that new lol.

Take Bioshock for instance, I can run it on low settings but I can tell by playing just the first few parts of it that later in the game it's going to be a struggle. If anyone knows Bioshock, i am only up to getting the shotgun when you go for the telekenisis plasmid int he dentists. So if i can tell i am struggling already i think you get my point.

Borderlands was a struggle and Crysis (demo) was just playable with everything on low. And to be honest even wow, if i was to run at high settings with a bunch of mods and try and play in a raid the fps would be hit badly.

Even with these older games considered though it would be nice to play some new new games on at least medium settings.

So who knows how much i need to spend. I am competent enough to change a graphics card but thats about your lot so im pretty much looking at pre built specs. Skel, will those bits you said about before be any use to me still? And what the hell do i do about windows and such? If I bought my own copy of windows 7 how easy is it to format and reinstall because I am starting to do that every 6 months or so now? Anyway, im blabbing. Any suggestions welcome.

Forgot to say, prolly looking about £600 max, and thats gonna take till end of march to get that much at least.

If you get a hard drive the system I have at home is finished, can install Windows 7 for you and give you a disc.
