As for the temperatures, they will go up and down slightly, that is a given. The difference between 1940-1979 and 1979-2010 is that 1940-1979 is a very gradual small decline whereas 1979-2010 is a pretty steep incline.

but that is linked to soalr activity..not c02. if you look at the temp graphs and co2 graphs the two dont add up at all.. they are condradicting each other...

i think they showed them in that above doc...

Post hoc ergo propter hoc

Correlation does not imply causation

We haven't been recording or polluting things anywhere near long enough to know whether it is CO2 emissions causing temperature changes. Millions of years of earths history and we've been screwing it over for what, 100 years?

I remember on Frozen Planet they had some pictures of glaciers 60 years ago and now. They had receeded a long way back from where there original end was. But how do we know it isn't part of a larger cycle? Most of us will live somewhere between the age of 70-100 if we're healthy (so Sparks, you aint got long chap :P) so things will chance to a state that we have not seen before, but it doesn't mean it is out fault. I just don't think that people are willing to accept something may have a "cycle" that is more than one earth year unless you look outside Earths atmosphere and possibly beyond our solar system.

I'm with Sparks, global warming is made up. I bet my life that temperatures will drop again. And even if they don't I don't give a fuck because my life will be over long before it matters whether or not my bet is won or lost

The End.

A single individual exaggerating is not a complete cover-up. That is a pretty shabby post.

More in depth look at the trends - http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/

A quick search on that "Andrew Thomas" reveals that he has written a few stories all backing the "no CO2".

And to quote the lead scientist of that piece from the Bristol Uni press release:

"Like all studies of this kind, there are uncertainties in the data"

Then some other researchers also at Bristol Uni published this - http://www.bris.ac.uk/news/2009/6676.html

I haven't said anything either way except for pointing out the incorrect statements from all the links that have been posted by sources which aren't exactly reputable.

Whether you "believe" in global warming/climate change or not, the fact is that we are pumping out a lot more shit (not just CO2) in to the atmosphere which affects more than just the temperatures. Crop yields are down from areas that are affected by heavy pollution, would hate to see what sort of damage China is doing with the amount of shit they are pumping out.

Individual CO2 isn't the major problem, it's major industry that is seen as the bad offender.

Just because the average temperature of the planet as a whole is rising doesn't mean places won't have times of the year where they are cold.

So you are saying that all the research that has shown average temperatures going up is wrong, ignoring why they are going up for a second, you are saying that they are all wrong?

I haven't said anyone is right or wrong. However, I'm with Sparks that it is over-hyped for some reason or another. The studies are right, the average temperature is going up. We are, without a shadow of doubt pumping a lorra lorra shit into the atmosphere (you mention China, well fooking hell I wouldn't want to live there!) that could well be avoided.

The world revolves around cash now a days as opposed to actually living.

If any of you played Deus Ex, I want a world where Tracer Tong was successful.
