g80 drivers are overall pretty good for XP now i find
nvidia are way ahead of ati on the graphics front at the moment. everyone thought that due to the mooohassive delays, the x2900xt would be fan-fucking-tastic but it is a total shambles, they don't even support UVD despite all the claims and that being one of it's selling points etc.
as to amd as a cpu provider, they suck, plain and simple, yeah, they're not bankrupt because of, well, i don't know actually, all laptops atm tend to use intel, most corporate pc companies like dell tend to use intel (even if it because of backhand dealings) and intel kick dells arse in every situation atm, with the july 22 quad price cuts and the introduction of the e2xxx cpu's amd are gonna be very very hard pushed to get a high performance chip out at a decent price

I used to have that Avalanches CD as it goes.

Yeah, but both AMD (ATi) and Nvidia are both shite.
And you have to take in to account that Vista has poor performance anyway.
There isn't a lot of choice about it, you either go with AMD (ATi), who generally listen to their customers or Nvidia who are complete arseholes.

Ref stress test in vista:
with the new 7.5 ati vista drivers its much better for me now i get 210 fps with standard settings 4xantliasing
with everything full on i get 174.

im well shocked its even more responsive now too, but that maybe because im running it on the raptors in raid0
but i think ill be playing on vista from now on.
