Never played the original Deus Ex nor System Shock (original or sequel).
Original Doom would be up there, and Sim City, Settlers, Sonic. Classic games.
FF XIII-2
Re: FF XIII-2
Metric, did you get a code for a "unique downloadable weapon for Noel"?
Re: FF XIII-2
No :S played the game for about an hour. Cant really comment on it yest. i like the way you can escape from battles instead of been forced into it once you come into range. ( cant remember if you can do that in XIII )
Re: FF XIII-2
You can run away from battles if you are fast enough in XIII, not sure I prefer it over XIII though.
Hate the fucking quick time events, they are not needed in any games.
Have to say at the moment the game is pretty poor. Positives are no Vanille and the paradigm battle system hasn't changed.
Crystalarium thing was better in XIII (at least at this early stage) and pissed off about the single save (wheres the option to have multiple saved games?

Re: FF XIII-2
Just over 3 hours in now.
- "boss" battles are far too easy at the moment, hope they come harder
- quick time events are a pain in the arse
- random encounters bit is actually working ok, but getting the right angle to hit them is hard as you only seem to be able to move in 4 directions (i.e. it's not fluid enough)
- single save is rather annoying
- not 100% on the "paradigm pack" that you will come on to later on
- story is going to get extremely confusing
- side quests so far are simple find and return style which I imagine will be the lot of them
- crystarium system is a lot more linear than in XIII so you will likely need to think about what you are doing rather than just leveling absolutely everything
- the "unique weapon" looks like a pretty good starter weapon compared to the others that are available in the shop
- not sure about the accessories weight bit, but will have to see how it works later on

Re: FF XIII-2
Just under 8 hours in now.
- Story isn't really grabbing me at all, at the moment I would say this is the worst FF I have played
- Although you are travelling around a bit everything still feels very linear, I miss the world map of the other FF's
- Bosses have been getting a bit harder, one had a target time of 6 mins, took me 15 mins. Others were supposed to be 10mins, but I took 2mins
- You can create new saves, but only at the historia crux
- Some of the anomaly puzzles are just a pain in the arse
- Really wish they could get some better voice actors in
- Flan are ridiculously strong still, in 9 they were fairly easy to defeat with a bit of fire
- Not sure the "monster infusion" bit works properly, comes up saying no abilities to be transfered, but still transfers the abilities??
If that grid system in the historia crux is the full game, then I imagine it will take over 30 hours.

Re: FF XIII-2
Thanks for the update man. Actually very helpfull - made me not to much i na hurry to play much past the hour i played last week.
Re: FF XIII-2
I've got a fair bit of working coming in so won't have a lot of time to play. Probably play some more tonight, but probably won't be able to play again until next Tuesday.
Re: FF XIII-2
Played last night again for an hour or so and the dialog is pretty poor but not in the way that 1-6 were poor due to bad translation but just poor.
I unlocked two locations which I went to but you can't actually go anywhere in them as they are both blocked off which was pretty pointless.
Some of the levels are just pointless (tower for example, wasn't even a good one like the towers in FF6).
Looks like max HP will only be 9,999 based on the UI.
The 4-axis thing on random battles is annoying too.
