Second time I played it I assumed they would be in the same place and walked all the way round the bank not realising that the manager was right near the entrance.

I was watching a video tutorial of that mission in the streets. We weren't even half way through the level
They showed that if you don't walk up to the SWAT truck, the cops keep spawning. So it works the same as in all COD games (single player)...moving forward is very important.

Only ever got to the thermite bit. But the bot didn't pick up the second one and I couldn't be bothered to go through.

Yeah the bots don't pick up thermite. It still works with just the one you pick up, but it just takes longer.
After that you can pick up the money and move on.

I can be. I still haven't watched Breaking Bad, but I guess I can do a Breaking Bad double on Monday.
