Skip most of the start up movies:

Within WillowEngine.ini which is located in your My Documents folder then My Games > Borderlands > WillowGame > Config:

Find:

Code: Select all

[FullScreenMovie]
StartupMovies=2K_logo
StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
StartupMovies=NVidia
StartupMovies=Loading
SkippableMovies=2K_logo
SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
SkippableMovies=Attract
SkippableMovies=NVidia
Change to:

Code: Select all

[FullScreenMovie]
;StartupMovies=2K_logo
;StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
;StartupMovies=NVidia
;StartupMovies=Loading
SkippableMovies=2K_logo
SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
SkippableMovies=Attract
SkippableMovies=NVidia

Can I just say, disabling Mouse Smoothing was great, and enabling V Sync as well, cos I was getting shit loads of horizontal screen tear before.

You can enable force AA as well through various ways but apparently it will cut your frame rate in half (half to Skel though might be 100 FPS still 8) )

I will try disabling mouse smoothing, saw how to do it, but didn't.

My FPS is around 50-60 I think, but it is on max in game settings @ 1920x1200.

Yeah im at 800x600 everything low except medium texture* & game detail lol. :oops:
I put AF x16 though else you cant see anything.

I'm wishing for a lot of money over xmas but that won't happen. I wanna build myself a nice desktop to have again, but it will be months before i think i can afford anything :(

Funny thing is though, UT3 runs damn well in comparison to Borderlands.... It's a bit shit for performance to be honest, too much consoleyness going on with it.

It's not surprising that Epic can get a lot more out of the engine considering they built it. It will be the same as the UE2, Epic used with great effect, other people struggled, look at killing floor, doesn't run anywhere near as smoothly as UT2K4 did and UT2K4 felt like it had a lot more going on.

I may have some spare parts laying round in my attic if you need any cheap bits, got a few cases and some graphics cards as well as motherboard, RAM, CPU etc, in fact I probably have a whole PC up there suitable for gaming.

Maybe I'll come visit you, and we can see what we can build :)

Then it's only fair for me to sort you out after for being so nice 8)

I'll have a look when I get a chance, think I may just be missing a hard drive. Graphics card is 8800GTS 320MB, CPU is Intel Core2Duo E6750 which could run Crysis on medium/high settings at around 30-40fps. Ran UT3 at constant 60fps on fairly high settings from what I remember.

...now why the fuck did I spend £1,000 on a new computer. :lol:
