Just ordered this little puppy, hate the thought of having a dell on my desktop but looking into the monitor market this is the best i could find. The price is very good too i was looking at these about 6 months ago and couldnt find one less than £950 half a year down the line@ nearly half price: £ 550 seems a steel. All the other Cheap 26"+ Monitors are TN panels with shite viewing angles and crap colour gamut. This has 92 percent NTSC color gamut. Its got a Samsung LTM270M1 S-PVA panel inside so its not really a dell! Was seriously thinking i should get a S-IPS type pannel as these are newer and supposed to be a better pannel all the reviews point other wise though with this model. 1920x1200 resolution means big pixels at native resolution on a 27" monitor but im not going to be sitting ontop of it! At this price i couldnt say no so... Let see what shes like tomorrow!

Altough i have a lovely (hopefully) monitor turning up tomorrow im still left with this deflated empty feeling thats emotionally twined to my wallet and heart.


I know im going to need a new gpx card too, that is going to have to wait... unless it cant play css and tf2 athen ill be buying a 8800gt tomorrow too.

I have the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen and it is fine. My friends laughed when I said I bought a Dell monitor after I said they were shit for many years. They ignored me when I said it was really a Samsung with a Dell badge on it.

And then they saw it. Muahahaha.

Pixels will be a lil big though with the extra 3". The 30" is the 2560x1600 isn't it?

Yes its the volvo sips panel. 30inch Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC all it has is 1 dual link dvi input and only has 300cd/m2 brightness compared to the 2707 @450cd/m2 i like bright screens too.
mixed reviews, still way to expensive. £850-900 lovely ladys for that beast. Resolution is too much hd movie watching would have to be upscaled from normal 1080 high def to 2,560 x 1,600 which is just wrong 1:1 pixel mapping all the way for sharper pics.

is yours the hc model? can you change contrast etc on the monitor. how much did it cost?

No it's the non HC model, I got it before the HC were announced. I got mine for £410 delivered.

no diffrence in the panel i dont think, i bet its your best bit of computer gear now! everyone loves them!
whats new in gpx card land... whats this that sparks says about 8900 ultras? do you know whats coming out in the not to distant future?

may need help finding the right gpx card for crysis and this monitor!

new 8800GTS 640MB coming out beginning of December I think, as are the new HD 3xxx series from AMD. Haven't paid too much attention to be honest.

The 8800GT seems to be a good buy though, beats the GTS and GTX in some games for a fraction of the cost.

The 8800GT beats the HD 2900 Pro for sure.

I doubt they will release a 8900, the name difference isn't enough. They wouldn't make enough money, I doubt they will use the 9xxx series, because ATi have already done that. So it would be the 10xxx series or a new naming convention.

maybe a little too big actually, i hope i can get used to it.
wish i had a bluray or hd dvd player now. put my cable box to it on shitty composite its better than i thought it would be but its pretty shite overall. pip is good. i could actually have pip while playing css etc cause the scrteens that big.

its visionary delight, very well made bit of kit too.
plays crysis just on 1600, it wont play at all on 1920 monitor says its out of resolution hmmm wonder why...

I think ill be waiting to see how these new ati boards do just incase i set myself up a bum deal.

Strange. The only problem I have had with high resolutions was I couldn't do 1080p over component. Change the Xbox 360 cable to VGA and I now have it at 1080p. Perfect
