Not got the rattle in mine but im on my third alternator clutch. Basically they made the one way cluth that controls the alternator speed from rubber and not steel and it perishes quite quickly, about 20000 miles or so. The car fills with smoke and all your none essential electrics shut off as the engine management computer thinks the alternators missing so the batteries not charging. No air con or radio for a 300 mile drive back from cornwall last week, nice!

ahh well my mondeo hasnt got any silly engine managment.. im glad my dads has just gone tits up in his picaso...like having a pc rattling around under the bonnet ..bound to go wrong. ill stick to my diesel tracktor sounding one. ive even got the gaffa tape on the bumper 4 authenticity

I plan on trading it in after 20,000 miles or so anyway. Might get a nippy Focus, have to see whats around at the time.
