new bastard spyware..beware

Post by sparksy »

ok i managed somehow to actually download by accident a program disguised as a flash player upgrade. ( BONERBRAD done the same only his said codec)

anyway turns out is a right cock end fake anti-virus program called antivirus xp 2008.

basically it robs your wallpaper and puts a bitmap image saying you have loads of viruses.

you cant uninstall it as it comes up error.. would you like to send error report.

it keeps running in the background so you cant delite the program as it being used.

so if anyone has it here is how to get rid of the fecker as they want 50 notes to register it so u can uninstall,...

1) first the program file wont be called antivirus xp 2008, its called fPh000dfgdghdh or something... so find its name and copy and paste it in notebook so you remeber it.

2) if you press ctrl+alt+ delite all at once you get windows task manager up. this enables you to end the program.. therefore you can delite files.

3) once you have got the program delited you then have to get rid of the fake bitmap image that will pop up on boot, this will be in c/windows/system 32

4) if you copy and paste the program folder name again into the search bit of windows xp you will see all the remaning folders and can then again stop anything in task manager and delite ftw.

and thats it.. or you can reinstall window like boner did

hope this helps .....

ps almost a clickety clcik tutorial that 8)

Or download and run HijackThis and tick the right boxes :D

Those kind of viruses have been around for ages. Especially codecs. Screensavers are also a favourite way to spread a virus.

My sister boyfriend got it but it was bit more advanced then the one Sparksy got.

It blocked his internet access to websites like spy bot or symantec, every search result in google after being clicked was redirected to some weird sites, task manager was unavailable, couldn't log off, control panel was removed from Menu Start, the virus made a profile on his PC called NET something changed his account from administrator to limited and some other stuff that I dont remember. Anyway it was pain in the ass

I was laughing at him for more then an hour

P.S btw the walpaper is actually in a window and if you move your mouse to the edge of the screen you will see that you are able to re size it

for his issue only reinstal worked

I've had one of them before on a clients computer. There was too much data on there to backup though so I decided to try to remove it first. Was a pain in the arse but got there eventually. Took around 3 hours to remove completely which is longer than a reinstall but not when you include backing up and restoring.

Errr Sparksy...I am going to have to put down your hopes about Virgin.

Sorry.

1) You won't get the speed they advertise.
2) You have very low download limits which are in force from 4pm - 9pm as these are peak hours. On the 20Mb package, as soon as you hit 3GB of bandwidth your connection will be throttled to around 1Mb for 5 hours from when you hit the limit. So if you hit the limit at 8:59PM you will be banned for 5 hours.
3) Customer service is supposed to be shit.
4) You have very low download limits.
5) You have very low download limits.
6) You have very low download limits.
7) Virgin announced that everyone that was on their 20Mb package was a pirate. They didn't understand how anyone would need that much bandwidth and as such must be a pirate.
8) You have very low download limits.
9) You have very low download limits.
10) I'll point you back to point 1. You won't get the speed they advertise.

Fucking cunts
