overclocking my card

Post by sparksy »

thought id try to overclock my card seeing as the downloaded tomb raider underworld keeps glitching out on me ( could be download itself i supose) anyway the new card i was looking at is going to be £212 so cobblers to that for 5 mins. so i downloaded ntune and started tweeking... not sure if it was the 3d fan settings or the actual tweeking of the killer watts or whattever but it passed .... then when i played the game it spazzed out and kept craching... 6 blue screens later...
i let her cool down and opened up ntune again... said temps were at about 81% ... not ideal.... im not sure wether to splash out or just unistall the game tbh.... it plays left for dead on medium ok.... tomb raider is a no no ... pity lara looks quite nice with wet legs at the start

You can't just ramp up the clock speed. It will become increasingly unstable the higher you put it, hence you BSODs. If you have really good cooling you can get a moderate overclock on it, I have mine permantly overclocked but have a big stonking heatsink on it.

Have you got the latest drivers for your card? They make a little bit of a difference, otherwise you will have to split with your hard earned, or not play Tomb Raider and just look at porn like everyone else who is over 15 years old.
