uploading torrents

Post by sparksy »

Little warning here for anyone still doing torents lymewire ect. Guy i know got a letter from a solicitor the other day wanting £600 as they traced his ip and he was UPLOADING stuff that didnt belong to him. Aparently its what smart arse solisiters are now doing to get wedge. Not sure how far they couls take it though... i mean surly you only have to change your hardrive and say... its a wireless router.. unsecure...could be anyone in the blobk of flats ect.... its the file sharing that is the problem as torrents relly on downloading and uploading at the same time..... watch out.. rapidshare ftw i say

Just ignore the letters. They don't really have a case until the law is changed.

i wondered how they could actually ask people to cough up money... i mean to go to court there has to be evidence...so the police have to take your pc away..and recover evidence ect...... i supose some people will just poo it and thats it..

he just sent a letter saying his router is wireles and unsecured... i told him to maybe get a new hd and stick it out... no proof really....

glad i dont do torrents really... but goes to show you.. big bro is out there.......just watching.. waiting to cash in on ya...

They just send out a lot letters, even if only 5% reply back with the money they have made a profit. The worst thing you can do is to reply to them.

Throw the letter away and deny any knowledge of recieving it.

Peer guardian only stops around 70% of IPs that it should do.
