Played the original 2 on PC and will probably get this one for the Xbox, not sure yet. Played the demo and the destruction was as good as the first 2.
Everything blows up Which means you can't camp in a little corner or behind a wall as it will blow up.

Ref faction 1 was fucking amazing. Some levels you can just blow holes in the walls for one side to the other. And the Rail Gun was fucking savage!!!!
Re: Red Faction: Guerrilla Warfare
Damn fucking right. Was the first real 3D FPS that I played. That got me in to Quake etc.Forest wrote:Ref faction 1 was fucking amazing. Some levels you can just blow holes in the walls for one side to the other. And the Rail Gun was fucking savage!!!!

There was that test level with a wooden house with glass windows. I would put cheats on, get that fuck off rocket launcher and just destroy everything.
I made a tunnel going all the way around the map through the walls.

a multi player map was in like a canyon or somet with a building on each side and on top a rocket laucnher. ide make a tunnel all the way to the other side n sneak behind the enemy when they on the roof
playin like a worm
then ppl would see the tunnel and come through it n have a rampage in a tunnel

Re: Red Faction: Guerrilla Warfare
I played a hacked copy of the first game, cant really remember it that well but i did enjoy what i played. I think i got to some vehicle part or summit (after some shitty stealth levels) then just couldnt be arsed.
First game i played properly, PS wise, was actually Deus Ex. That got me into Half Life and CS etc along with quake and UT.
Original UT is still the best, although havnt managed to try out new one cos it needs a shit hot PC.
As for the new Red Faction, it just doesnt look that appealing. None of the newer FPS's do. Apart from the two crysis games i can't say im gutted to be missing out on Far Cry 2 and other consoley looking shit. Even when Bioshock was released i was really looking forward to it, watched some vids and that and just wasnt that bothered. Mindless shooters are for consoles, games with brains require a PC. I'm not saying console gamers are thick but lets look at something like the new Op Flash or Arma games (or again, Deus Ex). They have to be dumbed down for consoles because of the control systems. They cant fit what you can on a keyboard and mouse onto a joypad.
My fondness of FPS has gone downhill since consoles ruined Deus Ex:IW. I just bought Sacred Gold for £5.99 on steam, that will do me for a bit.
Eugh, just read that its 3rd person as well. Blatently console oriented. You're wise to buy for 360
yes that turned into a rant, and yes, im a PC snob.

I will get it for 360 I think, explosions will look better on 42" and sound better on surround sound.
GOW2 wasn't too bad, graphics were good and some pretty good explosions.
But games like CSS etc that require some sort of strategy and control need to be on PC.
Red Faction is a fun game, doesn't matter what you shoot, it's going to be destroyed, it's a good anger management game. During the demo you get in to some giant mech suit that has unlimited ammo and shit loads of armour in a world where everything can blow up...great fun
Crysis was already, Crysis Warhead was better, Crysis Wars (online) was OK, too many people who camp in stealth mode.
Far Cry 2 was repetitive and boring and nothing special, much like GTA4.
UT3 looks amazing and is a fun game to play, but doesn't touch on UT2k4 imo, and I have never played the original, started on UT2.
Bioshock was a disappointment for me, found it boring.
