Yes purely modem, i think its ports but no idea what im doing with them. but surely if its ports within kaspersky it would have been ok when i disabled and/or uninstalled it?

Well i hooked up my sisters laptop to the modem and steam logged in fine and started to update and msn connected so i know its summit on this PC but i just cant work out what. I didnt change anything at all it just stopped working. Oh well no CS atm for me
