So i cant get on the right websites to find out the info i want.
Two laptops im looking at Dell Studio 15, and Dell Studio 17.
The 17 comes with a 256 3650
The 15 comes with a 512 4570
I cannot for the life of me work out which is better cos i can't get onto various websites id usually use as reference taht have benchmarks and stuff.
But from what i gather the 4570 is 64bit or summit and the 3650 128 which makes it better. Then other people are saying that although the 3650 benchmarks better the 4570 is actually the better one bla bla bla.
The studio 17 is preferred option with p8600 processor 4 gig ram and 17 inch screen and also, as a bonus comes with full size keyboard (well, a numpad on the right at least) at £700
The studio 15 is exactly the same spec but with a 4570 and smaller screen, and smaller form is normal standard laptop size keyboard. Thats £630
Would someone be so kind as to tell me what is better? What the differences are and what makes it important. (Skelebob you're always online and help me lol)
Last thing to consider.
Home use: An external keyboard is likely to be used anyway but if i get 17 inch screen I wont need to output to another monitor when im at home using it, ill just prop the laptop up and invest in some cooling equipment instead so it can be a more straight forward desktop replacement.

The 3650 is ever so slightly better. Not by a huge amount though. Look at the rest of the specs ignoring the graphics card, but bare in mind the 3650 is every so slightly better.

The specs are identical apart from graphics. So basically is a choice of £70 for bigger form and screen.
This may sound stupid but will the fact its bigger make ANY difference to cooling? Its dimension are a chunk bigger so would it allow a bigger/another vent? Cos thats gonna make a diff if i get a cooling stand for it. But thats just my overactive mind thinking this stuff up lol

If it is bigger, you would of thought the vents would be a bit bigger to it should be cooler, but theres no guarentee with that.Revolver wrote:The specs are identical apart from graphics. So basically is a choice of £70 for bigger form and screen.

The bigger advantage is the bigger screen. Bigger screens do help, although they do take more graphics processing to look good, but you are used to playing CSS on shit graphics.

You sure about the 36 being a better option? 3 series to 4 series skel? And, the bigger laptop would just incur a slightly larger form factor, but no
real cooling benefits or disadvantages, current gen laptops tend to cook themselves to fucking death either way, perhaps investing in a cooling pad/dock
might be an option.

They are very close, with the different cards beating each other on difference benchmarks. The 3650 seemed to top the tables more from what I read, either way the difference is minimal.

Well by looks of it the offer runs out today so they are probably changing the specs it ships anyway. I give up to be honest i keep reading different stuff everywhere aobut different laptops and without seeing one perform there really isnt any way of knowing. I guess ill just keep saving for now until something comes up.spam_dagger wrote:You sure about the 36 being a better option? 3 series to 4 series skel? Re: HD3650 and HD 4570 - (more laptop shit)
Well in the end i decided fuck it. I ordered through top cash back, who had 10% off voucher that also expired today plus i should get another 6% cash back on the net.
After recent Kaspersky episodes (i really dont like it) i got mcafee cos it was 3 years subscription for £50, not that the laptop will last that long. Oh and i decided £30 was worth it to make the keyboard light up pretty lights
But yeah, £888 it should have been, then the dell offer of £130 or so, and 10% from voucher code mines £701 with the other cash back to come, hopefully.
I didnt copy the specs but its basically the best Studio 17 on there.
2.4 c2d, 4 gig ram, 3650, i changed the 320gb 5400 for 250gb 7200 hdd because i will never use anywhere near 200gb let alone 3000 and 7200 is a bigger faster number, apparently should help a little bit and it was no price difference to swap them out.
I know ill regret buying a Dell again within a year but hey ho.
"FUCK EM"
Gotta get me that router and a 20m network cable now, and a cooling plate..... Sigh, its all fucking money aint it.
