well, i'd say your not making a bad choice chap, just take care of it and dont let it cook itself, they get incredibly hot but it should not be nothing major to worry about.
Nowadays, the only real bottlenecks in computers are the southbridge memory controllers, the processor basically having to go through a chipset on the board to then access the ram, that AND the hard disk, which is the
bastard of all bitches, the slower the hard disk, the slower the data transfer, depsite the interface, sata/IDE/ATA. Intel has dealt with the memory issue, building the memory controllers onto the CPU, (AMD too i believe).

And, another advancement which you should consider in time to come, is investing in a solid state hard disk which i can say from first hand use is a really good choice, providing your laptop uses SataII, im sure theres SATA drives too either way the benefits in speed are phenominal.

Just imagine coupling a few of these solid state drives together with an i7 based system, the sky is the limit as all the bottlenecks are pretty much eradicated !

Anyway, those are things to just consider, you made a decent choice, that laptop should last you a long time indeed, just take care of it, even though it's a portable peice of kit, they just aren't that fucking durable, so keep it safe and cool and you'll get your money's worth out of it.

cheers

Nice one mate, I've been looking at cooler plates and i think i will definately get one. Its due to be delievered "before the 29th June" which is very helpful...

But it gives me a chance to get the mini desk up ( gotta find a space saving desk lol) and a router in. Im quite looking forward to it really. And i cant play CS atm on this piece of shit cos i still cant get steam to work so it will be good just to get back online.

i have the perfect solution for you,

Basically, i dont know how far you are from an ikea, but they have a superb steel cabinet that basically locks too, you fold it down, and you have a nice small latop desk, and some minor office storage too.

Doesnt look like much mouse manoeuvring space. And unless you're bolting it to a wall you would have to be the kinda person that stars in blaze's favourite porn for it to be the right height.

Now then, thats nicer

Only $400!
