I think its hilarious. Besides, if you have the XL pack from Virgin which gave you Sky Sports + Setanta, we got told yesterday that you should still get the ESPN games for no extra cost.

Setanta were always gonna go bust because they werent cheap enough for non-Virgin users. And they spent a fortune poaching some of the Sky Sports News readers and things.

You know its bad though when Super Stevie Claridge has his own football phone in show. Leicester City hero or not, he's an over opinionated twat.

I never really watched setanta for the football i watched it for the more full-contact sports e.g UFC and Big fight night boxing matches,
So now i'll probably have to pay to watch david haye and vladamire kilitschko spelt his name completely wrong but you know who i mean.
I also think it's bullshit how the haven't gone bump in ireland.

Ireland probably had no reason to watch UK football and paid for Setanta for everything else they did.

I am sure Sky will buy the rights for UFC.

Don't Virgin 1 have it or is that just the challenge series where they fight for contract? Not the boxing-esque built up fights?

I worked for sky for stint last summer, and you'd be right in saying they are pretty much the dogs bollox for TV, full stop, virgin are great, don't get me wrong, but Sky has that little bit more on offer.

And common, who were setanta to even try and fucking rival Murdock's supremacy lmao, that guy regularly knocked around with alan sugar of Amstrad (who built and maintained firmware on skyboxes till late 2008 bought out for a meagre sum), and all the big giants in the media industry, and basically, they didn't have the clientel or experience to rule a TV broadcasting company who has literally been at this fucking game for donkeys years. Sky HD is the fucking bomb, if you want to finely critique every blade of grass on the football pitch, or see every crack in Nicholas Anelka's face, but in essence Sky HD offers shat all at the moment, But with over something along the lines of 9 million customers (when i did my training in cardiff), they cant be doing too bad.

I don't think people sign up to Sky because they prefer to Virgin per say, it may well just be because they can't get Virgin.

There aren't enough HD channels on Sky at the moment, especially considering HD channels like Channel 4 HD upscale normal stuff rather than show it from an HD source (although they do occasionally have some HD stuff).

ITV HD isn't available with Sky yet, but is available with the Humux Freesat HD box, so hopefully it should come to Sky soon.

You get shit like the F1 which isn't in HD (whats that all about????) and the BBC HD channel only starts at like 6PM rather than being on all day. Just repeat the Blue Planet over and over again if you have nothing to show, it looks spectacular in HD.

Yep, it's a case of cost, it costs an arm and a leg to capture at HD, yet the consumer has been able to do it for a heck of a long time, it's case of running before we can walk again lol The tech is there, but not the necessity or the real demand.
