ok got my friend a deal with overclockers so he can watch pron and stuff, and basically i wacked a new graphics card in it for him... but as well as not sending a power cable they didnt include a sata lead for the dvd burner i ordered as well. my mates answer was to pick the tower up and shake it about.. " something is rattleing in here.. maybe they put it inside" no i told him that will be your motherboard......
anyway i got it hooked up at my place to the internet to download agv free and mozilla and do the windows vista updates ect. all was running nice and fast ( its a intel dual core ) so off he goes..
while ive been on holiday, two other mates of mine ( with pcs that are that old they could star in a 1970s episode of dr who) decided to try and fit up the burner for him.... which i then had to re-connect the cd-rom as they nicked the sata lead from it for the dvd burner
just before they did this he told them its running really slow... which it is , painfully slow... in hardware manager it says windows cant find the driver for the proccecor ( both show up as it is a dual core) but its so slow...
i looked in bios but cant find anything...
is the chip fucked or can anyone think of anything else it may be ???? its brand new from overcockends...

Processor doesn't need a driver. Do you have a screenshot of device manager?
And CD/DVD drives more or less never come with the cable. They should be supplied with the motherboard, but if you buy a prebuilt system they keep all the extra cables. Same with printers, they don't give you an USB cable.
As for being slow, was it a blank installation or did it have loads of crap? May just be some drivers not installed so it appears to be slow, graphics card drivers are often the cause of this.

i did install the graphics card driver .. mind you it did say dx9 on the disc.... its was a ..http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... 78&subcat=
and i wacked a Asus gforce gts 250512mb gddr3 pci- express.... card in it....
pre- installed vista home 64 bit... no crap on it....
as i say it was running ok here... but something has caused it to slow very badly...
i even re-installed vista to make sure it wasnt that... still takes ages to boot up...
