Played the old PS1/PS2 version of Operation Flashpoint and they were deadly ha.
Re: Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising
Yeah Ive been keeping an eye on it, though I have been playing Arma 2 which is quite similar. I reckon it should be ok but Iam not convinced it will be as playable as Arma though it does look prettier.

PCZone are pretty tight on giving out there Classic awards (90% and above). OF:Dragon Rising got one in the review this month.Oglaigh wrote:Yeah Ive been keeping an eye on it, though I have been playing Arma 2 which is quite similar. If PCZone gave it a classic it must be worth a look thats all I can say, and I've been reading that mag for 10 years. Deus Ex is still in the top 5 RPG's, considering it was reviewed in issue 93 and we're on issue 213 now, it shows how tight they are lol.
Games to compare scores to,
well CoD4 was given 89%
The original OpFlash got a 90%
and Arma II got 70%

Re: Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising
I think if they were to re-assess Arma 2 on how it runs now it would achieve a much higher score. As with Operation Flashpoint series that were made by the developer BiH before they split and created Arma. Arma is not built around the single player mode all the best content has been created in the form of patchs and popular fan based play modes. Its a strange strategy but it works kind of like a blank canvas nothing better than a 6 hour game of evolution in the original Arma and now that Arma 2 is starting to get up to speed it shows so great promise. However I will try OPF2 however I get the feeling its going to be big cinematic trailers, single player story mode dare I say built kind of for the console gamer ?.

With any of these series splits, it always works the same way.Oglaigh wrote:I think if they were to re-assess Arma 2 on how it runs now it would achieve a much higher score. The originals leave and setup new shop (arma series) and the big guns plough money into the original licence (codies and OpFlash) and will get there eventually.
Thats probably why Codies only just got round to make OpFlash 2 yet in the mean time Bohemia have made 2 Arma titles...
You can guarantee OpFlash will be the less hardcore as its from the main stream Publisher, but from what i've bothered to read in the review so far, put it on hardcore mode and you have the same difficulty of OpFlash/Arma.
The downside is apparently for all the military geeks out there, as there aren't anywhere near as many weapons/vehicles/whatever to pick and choose from as in Arma. I personally dont care for either, im still wiating for Serious Sam HD!
