Re: Taken
no not really all three films forget the role of the leading person and as the film progresses turns them into completey unbelievable chARACTERS ..bast capsAs if. Layer Cake is a completely different film to Taken or Transporter for a start. What are you on Mr Sparks?
layer cake starts with the main character (bad acting mr craig) bieng a shy coke dealer being very smart... ding his little thing... then along the way... hes with a hitman sniper in the park trying to bump of bosnian war crims...
all three take a belivable story from the begining of the film and turn it into ..well somthing silly..
but taken is better than the other two...
transpoter was the worst..absolute panty liner that was imho
proper geezer AVE IT init

Re: Taken
The whole point of layer cake is that it goes tits up and he is out of his depth. He gets backed into a corner and has to do something. At the start it says he doesn't deal with loud mouth coke yobs but then he's kinda forced into it by the big fish. Thats why he becomes something else, because he doesn't usually deal with all that crap and that is exactly why he didn't.sparksy wrote:no not really all three films forget the role of the leading person and as the film progresses turns them into completey unbelievable chARACTERS ..bast caps

I know you won't become convinced that it is actually a good film, so I'll just agree to disagree on that, but we will agree on Transporter. What a load of bollocks.

Re: Taken
I do prefer more 'realistic' films. Which transporter isn't. 'Unrealistic' films these days don't have the charm of the 80's and 90's films. Like Rambo wasn't a patch on any of the originals. They try and be too cool or pull of one amazing stunt that actually doesn't work in the context of the film. They forget you have to like the characters to enjoy the films, worry about stupidly unrealistic moves and set peices later.
I saw 10minutes of Collateral Damage last night too, for a film that was released in 2002 it was dreadful. It should have had Chuck Norris in it. I turned it off.
To make my point completely, the Die Hard Trilogy are three of the best films of all time as far as im concerned, just because i can watch them as many times as i like and not get bored (obviously not three times a week but you get the idea). The originals have charm and fun and are entertaining. Then you look at Die Hard 4.0 which was just a dreadfully written Hollywood script that they tacked a bit of Die Hard on to. It was just shit, you can't explain it really. Just shit.
I blame the rap culture, watching an "action" film released in the last year or two is about as entertaining as watching MTV or MTV Base. Or listening to 1extra (i still don't get that, but thats a whole new post).
