Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Post by skeletor »

Anyone getting it?

I want to get it, but with L4D2, Killing Floor, Borderlands, Forza 3 etc I don't see a whole lot of point as the single player of COD games is usually extremely short and no one on here usually plays COD multiplayer.

I did play CoD:MW, and I'm sure I will play MW2. But like you have already said, with Killing Floor, Borderlands and possibly L4D2 I've got enough on my plate. I still havnt finished Halo ODST Single player. I have a shit load of games on steam i havnt played properly yet:
UT3, Unreal 2, Half Life 2: Ep2, Quake1/2/3 and expansions, i bought the Jedi Knight pack, i have stalker i havnt played, i got old games sitting around that are unplayed like Mafia and Deus Ex IW (its shit though) and a load more I can't think.

Can I really justify forking out for yet another game that as well as other things I won't enjoy as much as I should because of system specs throttling the enjoyment.

Plus CoD Multiplayer is crap now with levels and perks and unlocking shit. Medal of Honor Allied Assault, CoD, CoD2 all had cracking multiplayers, there wasn't any levelling up involved with them, just get on with it.

Not to mention its going to get even worse this time around with unlockable Kill Streaks etc.

Call of Duty 4 actually had pretty good multiplayer, I played a lot with =EGN= and was good for when CSS started to become a bore.

The MP itself is good, but have you played on a public since it aged a bit. It's full of pricks, the community around it is full of dick heads. Just as Counter-Strike is now. There aren't many servers like ours anymore where people have a laugh (on the whole). It's just leet pricks that moan if your shit and call hacks if you beat them.

Co-Op is the way forward for fun, no stress gaming. Borderlands is a top crack its just a shame it didnt have more 'group dependant' dungeons. Maybe it will later on, who knows.

Diablo 3 is gonna be fricking ace as well. Thank god the release date got put back so I have time for a new comp.

Competitive MP has fucked itself in the arse these days. Every game wants you to spend hours on it just to be able to stand a chance. Even WoW is the same. An MMORPG that started life as a PvE game with some PvP on the side is now mostly played by PvP players and its a lot worse for it.

I wish perks in games like CoD were more trivial and not so game breaking/defining/deciding. I'm happy to see someone with an extra grenade, extra clip or a fancy laser sight. But there is a reason why martyrdom was always banned...

No I haven't played COD MP for ages.

But the PC community especially the COD fans are outraged as COD:MW2 is doing away with dedicated servers (like our CS one) and will be using their own servers which means no modding community behind the game. There was a poll on the top COD:MW2 forum where 75% of people had cancelled their pre-orders until it was changed so that dedicated servers were available.

They should just make official and unofficial servers. And have different "characters available for either".

Personally I can't be arsed with modding anymore so I couldn't care. The modding community hasn't produced a gem in years as from what i've seen. Back when UT/Half Life/Q3 mods were released every week with variation and talent.

Tactical Ops on UT was ace i loved that. Do you remember Gunman Chronicles? That was a mod, fucking brilliant then Gearbox snapped it up, polished it and sold it for £20. Scored summit like 76% in PCZone. Thats pretty impressive for a mod to score that highly in the chart reviews. As a free mod it would without a doubt have been 100%

Red Orchestra by Tripwire (same as Killing Floor).

Last one I can remember that was any good, also Doom 3 Classic which was all the original maps and weapons aswell as music in the Doom 3 engine which was pretty cool.

I will probably get it, but only for the SP. Hated COD4 MP, so I'm not expecting much of this one either.

I can't justify spending that much money on what will be no more than 4-5 hours of gameplay.

Borderlands already I have knocked up 31 hours and that was only £20 and there is still a lot more to do in it.
