Re: Wireless router
My brother had one and I had one. His died just before 1 year, mine just after a year.
Don't think to highly of LinkSys. I always use Netgear.
The Netgear DG834G is very common and good reliable bit of kit and is around £40 for a new boxed version.

Good price. Of course that is under the assumption that you have ADSL not cable.PooNTaNG wrote:See, i had a feeling old skel would put me right Just found a DG834G for £26 posted new in box, looks like another feedback rating for mrpoon...

Re: Wireless router
By that, are you on cable?
If you are on cable you will need something like the Netgear WGR614, which is what Virgin actually give their customers (at least used to, they may use higher spec ones now), that retails for around £30-35.

Re: Wireless router
I got it from UPC/NTL and I can assure you that it way too slow for gaming. had to buy a 20m Ethernet cable.
unless you add one of those http://www.ibood.com/ie/en
though you only have 45 minutes to order it before it changes to something else.

Re: Wireless router
I have a wireless N myself, but I assumed Poon was looking for a cheap one. Gaming wise on the Xbox I found it more than capable. Latency on the PC from a far old distance then yes it isn't suitable as you will time out a lot but the Xbox copes a bit better.

Re: Wireless router
Yeah its only to get the xbox up n running, i would cable it but it means trailing a lead all the way from upstairs bedroom where my ntl point is downstairs to the xbox. The mrs says no! Shall i go ahead n do a hunt for a cheap WGR614 then?

Yeah, it should be sufficient.
