New graphics card cooler

Post by skeletor »

Just bought one of these for my HD 4890.

Before was idling at 45C and got up to 90C on full load and sounded like a fucking aeroplane.

With the new cooler which is near silent, idles at 35C and maximum is 65C.

Can finally appreciate games with a quiet PC.

Remember kids, if your computer is too loud, make it quieter. The stock fans are a piece of shit.

29dB is too loud for me. At some point I want to replace all my case fans, they are ~30dB on minimum so hopefully get some Noctua/Scythe fans and bring them all down to 10dB or so.

Hadn't even seen the Akasa when looking for an after market cooler for the HD 4890.

I assume you mean moped?

I don't think mop heads make a lot of noise.

And rev it is very simple, all to do with noise. --> http://www.quietnoise.com/facts.htm

I've got Blo's old laptop if you remember Nitro boyo.

It's actually pretty damn quiet, plus i use headphones so i couldnt give a flying fuck about fan noise.

Unfortunately ice cubes would be useless as they would melt too quickly, although a good supply of LN2 with the right copper piping and insulation, you can get your temps down very far. http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=937
