I've got a nice test for this game, to see how well Steam Cloud actually works.
I've now reformatted my HDD's (twice, it was runnig so slow the second time I swear it's because one of the programs rebooted the comp while windows was setting up) I'm gonna reinstall steam tonight. When I loaded it up the other week it said my save games weren't up to date as those stored online, so should be interesting whether it restores them this time from Steam Cloud or whether it doesn't recognise something. Theoretically, it should update.

I'll let you know how successful the cloud thing is.

It should do and the Steam Cloud should work really well. It would obviously be better if it was free for developers then more would jump in on it, but from what I have heard developers have to pay to be able to use it.

Well i think torchlight went with it because they designed that "netbook mode". Idea being you can run it all pretty on your home PC then sit playing it on the train or on your lunch break. Think it's a clever idea myself, and not having to back up just plays into the hands of lazy people like me.

When you think about it, steam should crack a deal up really. They obviously get money from sales, then offer Steam Cloud for free and you would nearly always want to buy your games from steam rather than a shop or other dl service.

True, but more people using the service means they need to spend more to keep it running.

Which they wouldn't get away with. So the surcharge would have to be put on games, then people wouldn't buy as much as it is quite clear that people buy in mass on weekend deals.
