General feel is better, but the game ordering could be better. I haven't looked in to the game categories that you can create (apparently).

The categories thing isnt that good. Basically you click the game, put it in the category you want then at the top 'show' drop down list you pick the category you want. But it will ONLY show the games in that category.

Can you make a default category?

If you can then you can replicate the favourites using it then make that your default group. Obviously the rest of your games would be hidden but how often do you want to play Rail Tycoon or Peggle.

I was thinking this. Then be able to set the default group as home page like the old UI you could chose "My Games"/"Store"/"Whatever the other options were cos I can't think off the top of my head what they are".

I do find it amazing sometimes that a company so experienced in games can make glaring mistakes (unless of course we just don't know how to use the thing yet, and it is BETA after all) which would be almost mandatory for any gamer??? Although I suppose a steam update is nothing to the GFWL launch lol.

Thinking about it, isn't Steam pretty much the same UI since it was first launched in 2000 or whatever it was? Steam should be celebrated, fantastic thing. Unless you get hacked and VAC banned from stuff lol.

Steam hasn't had any major changes for as long as I can remember. Everything has always been subtle changes, but I am sure if you found a pic from 5 years ago you will possibly see some large differences.

It is a beta though, have to wait and see what Valve do with the feedback so make sure you tell them about it.

It doesn't remember the category that you had open when you restart Steam. So if you set it to favourites and close the window but still have Steam running it will remember but as soon as you completely exit out of Steam then go back in it goes to All games.

Change the font of the Steam UI:

Open the file called steam.styles in the c:\Steam\resources\styles folder (wherever you installed it).

Then change these lines near the top from:

basefont="Arial"
basefontbold="Arial Bold"

To:

basefont="Segoe UI"
basefontbold="Segoe UI Semibold"

Assuming you have the Segoe font that is. If you are using Vista/7 you will have it. On XP if you have installed Windows Live applications or Powerpoint Viewer 2007 you will have it. Looks much better.

Someone has compiled a list of suggestions, hopefully a lot of them are taken on, although some of them may be a lot of work. - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1158578

The new update today makes the library list remember your option, so if you select favourites and restart Steam it should come up with favourites.
