There is meant to be a Ep3 but I think its the last. HL3 will be a new engine, and these days a new Half Life means a new CS, such is the association between the two.
As for old/new CS etc, the new one probably is better but there will always be someone who prefers the "original". Thats why some people still play CS 1.6

If they are updating current counter strike source to the best they can for free then
they won't bring out a new one for people to buy cause there will be no point.

You mean like when they updated the original L4D (eventually) when L4D2 was out? And they went back and altered Portal for the Portal 2 release? Valve have a good rep when it comes to supporting games, just because they update CS:S it doesnt mean there won't be a CS:S2 by any means.

I see there has been another release of CSS Beta, is this exactly the same but only with minor updates rather than pissing us off with an update every day?
or at least get our server... once a week or two
