16 years (I think) and 225 issues later, PC Zone has had the plug pulled. I got an email the other day saying they were transferring my subscription to its sister magazine PC Gamer. Can't say it wasn't coming what with all the journalist seeming to be freelance for the last 3 months, the editor has changed about 3 times in the last year and has always been a stand in and lastly, the magazine has got worse and worse.
Anyway, I doubt anyone else will care, but i've read this mag for too many issues over the last 10years+ so its a bit sad to see it go. At least I still have the issue in my draw when I won the stupid competition, and they stupidly spelt my name wrong. And I had to email them demanding my Stupid prize because they stupidly forgot to send it to me. I wish I had kept the compliment slip that came with it - a hand written apology signed by Rhiana Pratchett. OK so she's not mega famous, but her dad is and it was something unique.
Goodbye PC Zone, I will miss you

Never read it. Was it a gaming magazine or hardware based?
Those sort of magazines are a dying breed now due to the amount of blogs that do the same thing.

Re: PC Zone - The End
It was gaming based. Obviously had a hardware section as well. The internet kills of all this sort of thing really, especially with how fast you can download demo's etc now.
Back in the day (2000ish) a DVD full of mods, total conversions and playable demos was priceless. Now you can download a whole game in half an hour so whats the need for a DVD packed with a mag? I cant remember the last time I actually used a demo disc from the mag. Whereas 10 years ago I would have spent ages looking through and trying mods for Quake 3, UT, Half Life. All good fun. Bring back the modding golden era!
Gunman Chronicles started as a mod and ended up with a standalone release from Valve. Good game that was. Also slightly off topic
