NoooooOOOO THIS MORNING WERE BACK TO LAGGGING CITY IM AFRAID.. ALTHOUGH IM SURE YOU WERE RIGHT ABOUT THE DRIVER AS I PLAYED CSS FOR A GOOD HOUR LAST NIGHT. damn caps... anyway i did a diagnostics thing via win7 and look what its saying about my ram

The system is experiencing excessive paging
Cause: Available memory on the system is low.
Details: The total physical memory on the system is not capable of handling the load.
Resolution: Upgrade the physical memory or reduce system load
Related: Memory Diagnosis

could we have found the problem at last.. my ram is dieing ? hence the delays...

Restart the computer and before the 'starting windows' bit comes up keep pressing F8 to get the safe mode menu up. I'm pretty sure there is a memory diagnostic test in that menu which will test your ram.

im running mem-test ,which was given to me by the geeza at the local rig shop here in chaventry. atm it has been running for nearly 2 hours and just finished test 4..all have passed with no errors :D ill leave it running for 4 hours but ive got a feeling the ram is ok.Its also showing up ok in the bios and in windows system..... :?: the guy did say make sure you have onborad graphics disabled in the bios.... but i couldnt find it tbh. they can test the board and chip for 5 quid... im stumped now.. could it be the graphics card ?? still ok in safe mode.. xp still ok.. just in fancy aero win 7.

even my old dell didnt lagg this much

Probably something really simple.

It's likely that your motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics as most of the highend ones don't. Just because RAM shows up in BIOS and Windows doesn't mean it is alright. I assume he has given you MemTest86+.

For a fiver it would be worth a go.

yeah thats it memtest86+... went for just over 4 hours... did 8 tests..no errors all passed. ive turned off paging in the sytem controls which has helped a bit... but its saying..

Memory Normal 59 % 833 MB Available

physical memory 71%

total 2046
cached 1128
available 592
free 0

EDIT: yeah just tried css... horrific lagg. all the same im afraid... even in safe mode its using half of the ram capacity up.... grrrr

It's supposed to use a lot of RAM.
