Re: new rig..its time
brad has 3x gtx 480.. i asked him today.. he reckons the 580 are basically 480s overclocked to fuck...he reckons the 480 is a very good card.I would get the 570 over the 580,
only thing about the ram is it states if you put 8gb of ramm you have to re-set the bios... its screws up the pre-overclocking or something....
i may go for it..of for about 5 bills it comes with the i7 chip instead...

You have no way of knowing if the overclock will be stable with the temperatures in your case anyway.
I would personally buy the components separately and not worry about the overclock. Save £30 for a potentially more stable computer and no voided warranty of part of it. They shouldn't even offer the memory upgrade as part of the package.
i5 2500k (oem)
8GB RAM
2x AMD/ATi 6870 1GB gfx
motherboard
aftermarket cpu cooler
= £604.92 inc shipping
If you need the whole lot:
Remove that cpu cooler and get this which includes a case, PSU and cpu cooler.
That comes to £878.60 inc shipping
All you need on top of that is a hard drive.
1TB hard drive = ~£45
120GB SSD = ~£140 if you wanted max performance
So at the most you will have just over £1k otherwise with a more than respectable hard drive £923 for a full PC which will play all the new games at a reasonable quality for the next 3-5 years.

that was the other bundle.. but yeah i dont really want to overclock it myself...and im happy with a bundle that isnt overclocked... ive always had heat isues so the less heat i geherate the better...
that system will be just under a bag then.... best get a move on with this... weve already been on the ikea website for furniture to replace the devils spawn damaged stuff.. thats up to 2 bags already

Re: new rig..its time
When (IF EVER, FUCKING CUNT DIRECTORS) I get a pay rise getting a rig will be a top priority if I am still about to use it regularly.
My boss wants to get me a rise because he's too lazy to start with a new employee all over again, but the directors are tight fuckers and are trying to put it off till April. I've heard all this shit a million times and therefore hold no major hopes of either a rise or therefore a new rig in the near future

Re: new rig..its time
wtf is up with Radeons seriers of cards. How can the 6 series not be better than the 5, the same happed with the GeForce when the 8800GT was release.
http://www.visualdreamers.com/news/amd- ... vs-5870/3/
Fuckin stupid imo - higher series = better cards, yes if a 3rd party gets their hands on it and OCs it understandable, but factory cards. stupid

Wasn't the 5870 the top end 5 series whereas the 6870 isn't the top end of the 6 series?METRIC wrote:wtf is up with Radeons seriers of cards. How can the 6 series not be better than the 5, the same happed with the GeForce when the 8800GT was release.
You also have an issue with early drivers bringing down performance on new cards.
My boss was the same. Then I was surprised one day when 10 people were laid off and I got a pay rise although all staff were told their pay was frozen for the next year.Revolver wrote:When (IF EVER, FUCKING CUNT DIRECTORS) I get a pay rise getting a rig will be a top priority if I am still about to use it regularly.

Single card should be fine with the 600W, assuming you got a good quality one and not one of the cheaper ones. If you go SLi or Crossfire then should upgrade to 850W just to be safe. I would personally stick with getting the components yourself and not worrying about the overclock. I am in the same situation as you where my PC is always hot whatever happens so overclocking isn't really possible.sparksy wrote:yeah i was worried about the PSU tbh.. only 600 watts in this one.... do you think ill need a 850 PSU ???

get a new card and PSU then. i think this CPU may have been damaged slightly somehow... never quite runs right now..even with fresh installs .

Save yourself a few quid and get a slightly cheaper mobo unless you chose that one for a specific reason. I stick to gigabyte now, good but cheap.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... ubcat=1990
Double check to make sure RAM is compatible with whatever mobo you get and that the CPU cooler will fit properly and there is room in the case.
