Trying to decide...

Post by Revolver »

Whether or not to take the plunge and order the bits for a new comp. I know I have been going on about it for ages but I have the money left over to fund it as long as i pay it back to my saving at a fast enough rate. So will it be worth it? Looking at amazon this is what I have come up with based on using the DVD drive on 2 HDD's in my current comp (Skel - the ones you brought)

Core i5 2500K
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Sandybrid ... 527&sr=8-1

Saphire 6870
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/cart/view-up ... FTNC6R%2C1

ASRock Mobo
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Z68-Extreme3-Mo ... 601&sr=8-3

Corsair Vengeance - 8GB
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3 ... 636&sr=8-1

Arctic Freezer Cooler
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Cooling- ... 671&sr=1-1

Windows 7
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-OEM-s ... 916&sr=8-1

OCZ Agility 60GB
http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-AGT3-25SAT3 ... 991&sr=8-2

That lot comes to £609.16 then I found this Collermaster 430 with 650W Collermaster PSU for £80
http://www.ebuyer.com/233740-coolermast ... -RJWFBRJ99

So come on then, tell me where I can get stuff cheaper and/or better value for money. I have been so close to ordering but backed out every time

May not be cheaper straight away but if you are on Quidco (if not register, worth it in the long run) you can get:

2% cashback from Dabs.com, they also have a voucher code for £40 off when you spend over £599 (and you still get 2% cashback).

Or misco.co.uk you can get 3.5% cashback.

ebuyer.co.uk is 2% cashback.

I can't be arsed to look for you to see where it works out the best but the parts you have chosen are fine.

If you do sign up to Quidco, use this link - http://www.quidco.com/user/1773992/ - and I will get £2.50 as soon as you have earnt £5. :D

I use Topcashback. And it's got exactly the same deals on there. Thanks for reminding me though :)

ebuyer is generally the cheapest but they don't always have a great selection of motherboards.

Using dabs offer and getting cash back I can get all of the above with windows 7 retail, a slightly cheaper SSD and an Asus mobo for £682. The only thing cheaper on ebuyer is the case, but that case isn't on Dabs. Quite surprised to see 8gb corsair vengeance is cheaper on dabs than ebuyer and amazon!

Haven't checked dabs for a while due to the prices always been higher.

Good thing about ebuyer is that even when you choose free shipping which says 5 days+ it generally arrives in 2 days.

Is that dabs offer including another case or without a case?

Just done this gain. I clearly can't add up today.

From dabs, sapphire 6870, arctic cooling freezer 7 (may get 13 for extra £10), corsair vengeance 8gb, ocz 60gb agility 3 SSD, Asus P8Z68-V/gen 3 with i5 2500k
Comes to

£548.92 without offers/cash back

Ebuyer

Cooler master 430 plus GX 650W psu

£79.96 without cash back (which is about a £1 lol)

Could do with Win7 64 bit OEM on dans so I can get the £599 offer but they've only got 32 bit listed.

i would blank the sdd hard drive and get a water cooler instead of the normal fan.... mine was 58 quid and even when ive been on BF3 owning everybody for ages the temps never get up above 38c..... those solid state HDS are a bit pricey i think..wait until they come down and just use your normal one..

http://www.dabs.com/products/microsoft- ... ows&src=16 OEM 64-bit Windows 7 :)

Don't get 32-bit, would only be able to use 3.5GB of your RAM.

Yeah just did a read up, completely forgot the ram part of it all. Bad news that. Why truck doesn't dabs have 64 bit oem but amazon and ebuyer do. It makes a difference to my pricing!!
