Basically taking the piss out of the way most modern games are.

In the old days the main characters were double hard bastards, now they are all emo and shit.

But you really ought to play them. I have started up FF6 again on a Gameboy emulator. Have also been playing Pokemon Emerald and I don't recognise 90% of the Pokemon.

I finished 9 again not so long ago. And 7 few months back with an updated 17gb install

I've given up with the FF7 install. Too many dead links due to Megaupload being shut down.

Early ones are the better ones.
