The finale won't be as epic in terms of what you saw in episode 9 but story wise it will be.

Especially Daenerys and her dragons (if the scene is done properly, her dragons weren't stolen in the book. her whole plot was pretty boring but they have spiced it up for TV).

The white walkers and whights were at the end of the last episode, that is what the three horn blasts were for.

Due to the TV adapation there isn't a whole lot of explanation in to a lot of things whereas in the books it is much easier to digest.

As for dragons, they don't really play a major role until much later on in the books (book 5), so prepare to be disappointed on that front.

It will be good but don't expect anything like Blackwater Bay again (at least in the next couple years ;) ).

So you reckon it's going to calm down in season 3 and build up to something big by season 5?

Season 3 will have some great plot twists etc but no huge action scenes that I can think of until the 5th book.

The books are huge so I don't know what they are doing. I know they were hoping to do the 3rd book over 2 seasons but I think they are rewritting large chunks of it so it fits in one season.

Good news! They are doing book 3 over 2 seasons. So hopefully there won't be much cut out of it.
