Backing up my music collection to Google Music. Only 1,500 more songs to go.

I'm using iTunes Match. Works great, I only had to upload the songs that weren't matched.
Also a great way to upgrade your downloaded songs to originals from the iTunes music store. And that for only $25 per year.

Google Music is free and I hate iTunes, so easy choice for me.

and it told me it's only available in America... or are you just using a proxy?

You only need to use a proxy when you initially sign up then it is accessible outside of a proxy.
