Finished the Escobar book.

Just started reading the Dexter book. Very short book, nearly halfway through after a hour or so of reading. Good to be able to think back to the TV show and how they did stuff.

How fast do you read? And how often? I must be a slow reader which is probably why I never get into anything lol.

I generally read 30-60 minutes a night. Sometimes I read for an extra few hours over the weekend and occasionally short spells at work when I am bored.

I'm slow compared to most people I know. Dexter book apparently has 275 pages, assuming 25 pages are contents etc. I guess that works out around 40-50 odd pages an hour.

I think you just need to find the right book. I have other books which I just can't get in to at all so they will likely stay unread. Good thing about Song of Ice and Fire series and Dexter is I have seen the TV series which the books set up so it makes it much easier to read as you already know the characters.

Finished Dexter. TV series went a completely different way to the book. TV show was much better.

Half way through the second book and the TV series is much better. They clearly took large bits of the storyline such as Doakes vs Dex etc but the TV show pulls it off much better.

Sounds like it is going to be the current book I'm reading which is the third one.

La Guerta dying in the first one was rather weird and Deborah knowing about what Dexter is doesn't really fit her character.

The TV show did carry on with lots of little bits such as:

- Doakes being a double hard bastard and hating Dexter
- Deborah swearing constantly
- Deborah having a relationship with a high-up police/Government official
- La Guerta being a bitch
- Vince being Vince

Although the book has both Astor and Cody (Rita's children) as being like Dexter rather than them having a new child which is like Dexter.

He did kind of say that his brother was getting a bit ruthless later on when they were being chased but it was just a case of him (the brother) not being there to see it. He says multiple times that his brother ordered hits but never took a life himself.
