bamboo tablet

anyone got any ideas about these wacom tablet ? was thinking about getting one for doing artwork on with cs5... well the misses was going to have a go.. not sure if a ipad would be better with a decent stylus>>

Not sure about the "bamboo" one, but a good Wacom tablet is going to be better than an iPad although it is obviously limited in use whereas an iPad has various uses.

yeah looking at the ipad aparently it only saves say a jpeg image at 96dpi .... but you can see what you are doing and its mobile. if you can import it into phoshop then it will be ok.... but the bamboo looks better to me ..

Bamboo would be far better for art, but if you aren't doing that much and you could get further use out of an iPad then that would probably be a better buy.

wifey done this on the ipad in mind for childrens book illistation blog she is working on....

had to reduce it to upload... just done with her finger no stylus.... only saves at 72 dpi though but can enlarge to 300 in photoshop if i have to.....

Completely useless changing it from 72dpi to 300dpi in Photoshop, it's still the same quality unless you do some post-processing in Photoshop to sharpen it up a bit.

yeah say i tweak the colours and add a layer or two and then save it will that be ok... im still not sure what dpi is required for publishing.... to be fair i would have thought the image will have to be shrunk anyway so if its smaller than the original it should be ok .

DPI for print is usually 300 but changing anything less than 300dpi to 300dpi makes no quality difference at all.

so even if say played with hue and saturation...maybe rendered it and sharped it ,then re-sized it would it still not be a true 300 dpi image? 300 is the smallest size for publishing aparently... although before that we will have to have a website with gallery ect and update her art blogg..so these pics will be ok for that.

if i cant re-size with tweaking it will mean ill have to invest in a graphics tablet of some description... the cintiq is the best but the wacom do these as well http://uk.shop.wacom.eu/Products/Intuos ... -L?c=86366 which are bigger than bamboo ... i think you get photoshop ellements with some of them..

If you upscale a 72dpi image to 300dpi for print it will look blocky (the bigger it is made the blockier it will be).

With a proper tablet you would be directly doing work in Photoshop, so when you create the canvas you select 300dpi (or greater) rather than 72/96dpi which are more commonly used for web.
