think im going to get some speakers as the 2 i have here are about bolloxed. I have a old sound card which i think was 5.1.. thing is its only got 4 inputs blue green grey orange ? looks a bit like this creative one here http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-SB0 ... B000IZC0GO doesnt say 5.1 in the description though ??
just wondering if i should get a new sound card... cant be a big one just a pci thin thing though... the GTX 570 breeze block is hogging the room in the rig.

Your current sound card if it is the one you linked to on Amazon wasn't a good card, it was given the X-Fi name which was highly regarded at the time but had none of the technology.
But either way it'll still do 5.1, most motherboards are capable of 7.1. The only thing you need to check is the connector that the 5.1 speakers use, the cheaper ones will all likely be 3.5mm jack, same as what you're using at the moment so you shouldn't need a new sound card.

damn links.. the speakers are the logitec http://www.ebuyer.com/242265-logitech-z ... 980-000432 but unbeliabley the HD and speakers were alot cheaper at pc world/currys so im getting them from there

Yeah, you don't need a new sound card. One you have, even possibly the motherboard will be able to do 5.1 through them.
