It's rare for a motherboard to go wrong but I've had one go before and like yourself it was an old one. Ended up replacing CPU and RAM too.

well i don't know how I manage to pick these duff rig parts you know.. apparently my intel sandybridge cpu 3rd gen was recalled at some point 8O and the full sized 1155 ATX motherboards are like fucking rocking horse shit to find.. and most are second hand. lost the ebay bidding ffs, put in 29 quid max and it went for about 35 quid 8O found some from spain without the I/ 0 shield ... I DONT THINK THE MINI VERSIONS M-ATX are going to cut the mustard... so if i can get a second hand one i may need a new bundle from someware  even brad is still on 775 socket and you can still get those easy i may change to AMD if i have to get a new board and cpu..fuck intel :?:

yeah... its just i can get a new board and new AMD chip for around £150 quid, were as it looking like the second hand boards are going for 40-60 quid upwards on ebay... i offered a guy £50 for a compatable board last night.. he refused and it had sold for £60 this morning 8O whats asrock boards like? http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product ... BA-970PRO3
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product ... CPA-FX8300

i was thinking then i can keep my ddr3 ram, antec water cooler, psu, and gtx570  :?:

ASRock are fine, more of a budget brand.

Have you tested your PSU with a multimeter?

Well it wasn't the board..fitted new one well second hand one in good nick, asrock it was... Just starts up on its own still :( so I went to price up a new psu and they reckon strip it all down to barebones first and see if it still does it.. Then it will be the psu, I even took the power supply button out to make sure it wasn't than..... Pain it is getting yes ( in a Yoda type voice )

I've got a PSU tester somewhere which I can send to you. It's basically a very very simple multimeter and will flash red if any of the voltage lines aren't giving enough power.
