Brought a new gpx card today. Went for a 8800gt also brought a Noctua NH-U12F CPU cooler hopefully i can now play at proper resolutions.
gonna need a new mb if i ever want to sli them tho

Great choice on both graphics card and heatsink.
The 8800GT is only beat in performance to the £ by the HD 3870, but the GT is slightly more expensive and performs better.
The Noctua is brilliant and extremely quiet.

Also looking for a new card, and checked the specs of the 9600GT.
Doesn't look like it's worth the extra money if I compare it to the 8800GT.

New Radeon HD3870 are good as is the new newer HD3870X2 which is basically 2x HD3870 on 1 card.
The Nvidia 9 series is complete shit. They are no better than the old 8 series.
Either get an HD3870, HD3870X2, 8800GT, 8800GTS (new one with 512MB ram, not the 320MB or 640MB ones).

Guess I will buy the 8800GT/HTDP, it has 1024MB DDR3 and supports SLI. The 8800GTS doesn't (and has 512MB)

8800GTS 512MB is better than the 8800GT 1024MB. 
Very common midunderstanding that RAM on graphics cards makes a huge difference. Like saying you would have a tractor over a car because it has a bigger engine, doesn't mean it will go as fast.

No, but if you got the new Nvidia 9800GX2 that is supposed to be coming out in March, you could probably tie it to the back of your car and use it as a plough.
