Went to a games thing at Wembley today, saw a live running demo of Far Cry 2 on a 60" TV, looked pretty good, far from finished though. It will be out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 all at the same time, with the release date early autumn. Official release date will be released sometime in spring.
Also saw quite a few other games and played quite a few more.
One thing of note was UT3 on the PS3 is complete shite. Graphics were appauling and the game had been slowed down as it was on a console. Good thing was, all the games that I played were on brand new 36" Samsung LCD's.
Also saw the new GT5 Prologue, unfortunately there was a huge queue to play it but it did look pretty good and there was a racing game for the Xbox 360 which looked really good, but I can't remember what it's called.
Far Cry 2, GT5 Prologue and other games...
Re: Far Cry 2, GT5 Prologue and other games...
Looking forward to FarCry 2, on pc ofcourse. I would never buy a game console for any game, I've never seen a game looking better on a game console then it looks on a (proper) pc.
Re: Far Cry 2, GT5 Prologue and other games...
Unfortunatly Farcry 2 was a bit buggy. They showed a demo from November 2007, they say they have worked out a lot of the bugs but I doubt that. The computer crashed half way through so we missed the second half of the demo.
The whole game is 50KM x 50KM. No loading screens from the first screen, the game will dynamically load up the other bits of the map as you walk in to them.
The fire bit was pretty interesting, setting grass roofed houses on fire with a flame thrower burning everyone inside. The AI seemed very similar to Crysis, they do whatever they want, talk, cigarette etc.
You can carry 3 main weapons at a time. Pistols, single grenade launcher thing, and a rifle/shotgun/submachine gun. You also have a machete.
If cars don't work you can shoot off the bonnet then fix the engine. Rather than med packs you have morphene which you can pick up and give to yourself to top off your health.
There are also buddy characters in the game. You have a choice of 10 characters at the beginning, the other 9 you don't chose are scattered around the map and are your buddies. Once you have met these buddies they will come to your aid if you die, they will drag you to a safe spot keeping the enemy away and heal you, so you don't actually die. Your buddies can die, once they die they are gone for good.
Loads of vehicles to drive, cars and boats, nothing about planes or helicopters. Outside the map boundary is a large desert, if you walk too far out you will faint in the desert.

Well, sounds promising to me. I've seen the first trailer which looked good, but I understand there still is alot of work to be done before final release then.
