Re: FF VII Remasterd
Been playing FF12 on a PS2 emulator for the last few days. 14 hours worth and the save game is corrupt. FUCK!

Re: FF VII Remasterd
Just goes to show that FF is a waste of time.

Re: FF VII Remasterd
I always buy FF. Have two copies of FF8 due to the old discs getting scratched. Also have that on the go in a PSX emulator.
FF6 - GBA emulator
FF7 - PC w/ mods
FF8 - PSX emulator
FF9 - not in use at the moment.
FF10 - PS2
FF12 - PS2 emulator
FF13 - Xbox 360
FF13-2 - Xbox 360
PS2 emulator actually works really well and looks better than the PS2. FF12 comparison pic - http://i.imgur.com/uG6sI.jpg

I started 12 there again few months back, never finished it. Got to the Felwood - playing tine Zodiac version, where you the License board only allows specific classes which cant be changed once chosen ( e.g. I have Basch on the Knight ( Tank ) ) board. Might go back and finish it off, its a fuck load harder than the original!

Re: FF VII Remasterd
Considering you two are probably the most time constrained people in AoP other than those who have children you spend an awful lot of time playing through FF games several times. Why? Seems an awful lot of effort when you already know the story etc?
Not criticising, just wonder what can possibly be so good? I remember two lads at my school when I was in year 8 (roughly), which means I/they would have been around 12, and they were constantly obsessing over Final Fantasy VII and chocobo racing. Or something. They were ripped to shreds by the "non geek" kids.

Re: FF VII Remasterd
Because it's fun. Even though there are huge flaws in all the games.
FF6 - Too easy. 2 ultimate weapons (one in each hand) by using Genji Glove with the Offering relic meant you were doing 9,999 x8 damage per attack which wasn't limited on one enemy, if you had 6 enemies you would eliminate the lot.
FF7 - I could never get in to it. I played it after 8 and 9, completed it once but couldn't tell you how the ending went.
FF8 - Story was fucking stupid and really easy to abuse the magic/junctioning system. Death status magic on Attack, killed pretty much everything.
FF9 - What was with the fucking midgets? To be honest this game has the least to complain about, was fairly well rounded despite me not remembering much about it.
FF10 - Blitzball. Tidus and his annoying fucking voice and Wakka (despite being voiced by the guy who does Bender in Futurama). To be honest all the characters are unrelatable and all the religious/cult overtones throughout the game were annoying.
FF11 - Showed that FF failed as an MMO (although that may have just been me).
FF12 - Voice acting again ruined the game. Slow paced (especially at the beginning). Licence board.
FF13 - 20 hour tutorial. Voice acting. Auto-battle, was basically 'press X to continue' for around 60 hours.
Is the Zodiac system the international licence board that only Japan got? The licence board is a piece of shit, it really was pointless (the Japanese one I can understand but the EU/US one was really pointless). Not only do you have to buy magic/skills etc but you also have to unlock the ability to be able to use them. Just stupid.
I wasn't that deeply interested in FF when I was at school. It was more of a case of "have you played FF?" "Yes." "Cool. Want to play football?". Some people were obsessed with C&C/Metal Gear Solid.

Re: FF VII Remasterd
Yes is was Skel, its been translated to English though. And Its much better - you have to think how you want to build your characters and what ones you will need for each boss fight. Though Melee, support/healer, tank seems to have worked pretty well for me so far, have not had any need for red/green/black mages as of yet. You cant get the Zodiac Spear at the start of the game anymore ( which made the orginal FFXII PISS easy once you did) but you can get more than one late game. Boss`s are far tougher, good weapons are more scarce, which makes you appreciate the more unique ones once you find them. All the locations of the good shit and the Stealing of the good shit has changed, so you cant just rush to an area, open a chest for the good stuff and run back. I killed Demon wall actuall, thats where i left it - you get the Deathbringer weapn after killing him - I must have ran in and out of zones for an hour constantly getting the chest to re-spawn in the hope that the weapon would be in it. so isaid FUCK THIS, checked the net, and turns out its not in this version of the game ( well it is, but at a later stage )
So all in all the game in much more well balanced. Well worth a go!
