Polish technical death metal giants Decapitated have announced Austrian Kerim “Krimh” Lechner of Thorns of Ivy as the band's new drummer. Krimh will replace Witold “Vitek” Kieltyka, who was killed on November 2, 2007, when the band's tour bus collided with a truck on the Russian/Belarus border.
Also injured and currently recovering from the accident is vocalist Adrian “Covan” Kowanek. It is unclear if he will return to front Decapitated, but guitarist and Vitek's brother Waclaw “Vogg” Kieltyka, who did not sustain any serious injuries in the crash, states that reforming the band was “a really hard decision for me … I know it will not be the same but I want to try.”
Krimh will be filling the role of one of metal's most skilled and technical drummers. Throughout the band's career, Vitek was a driving force in some of the most respected pieces of modern death metal. 2006's stellar Organic Hallucinosis might just be his crowning achievement, not to mention a landmark DM release. If the members of Decapitated are able to recover from their tragic loss and begin anew, then fans will certainly be grateful – and metal will be all the better for it.
P.S I can't remember if i've posted this before but if i haven't some good news
