Resident Evil 5

Post by Revolver »

So I bought this because me and Skel were chatting on steam, Skel said "it has co-op" so i said, what the hell, lets buy it!

I can't imagine loading it up again, I've only played half the first level and its so frustrating, I never know when im supposed to run or when im supposed to fight, i have no idea what the (non-)plot is and the controls are frustrating. Mouse use is horrible for me in general and you cant aim and walk at the same time which is pathetic. Also, i agree with what Skel said to me about the over-shoulder camera being annoying. Best game to ever do this for me was the first Splinter Cell (havnt played any of the newer ones), Resi Evil just has half your screen taken up by your own characters head and shoulders. Ridiculous.

I might give it a go using the 360 controller since it's also (i didn't realise till i loaded it up) a GFWL title. Seeing as the gaming world revolves around consoles these days it might be a bit better.

Graphics are quite nice though, i run it in DX9 mode on medium and looks nice, i booted it up in dx10 and full gfx for a look, looks very pretty, just unplayable for me. So im sure most of you will appreciate it's looks.

I'll give it a blast this week with controller and report back.

Had considered using the 360 controller but couldn't be bothered to walk downstairs to get it.

I run it on DX10, highest settings and it does look good but nothing special.

Over shoulder camera is near useless. As Rev said, half your screen is lost.

When running the camera seems all over the place. You can't shoot while running so it means stop, shoot, move a little to avoid getting hit, stop, shoot etc.

The AI is pretty much non-existent. She just fires 1 bullet every now and then and not even at the target. The melee attack seems to do fuck all damage.

I will try with the controller, but I am disappointed with the game and I doubt that co-op is going to help.

There is an option to enable Partners to "React to your target". I left it off, but im not sure if it just means they're going to aim at or near to whatever you are? I should imagine co op just get more frustrating

Mind you, if you play as the skinny (and perfectly *breasted*) woman, i wonder if you lose less screen?
