Thinking of this just because it is cheap and looks like it will "do the job" lol. I'd like a high res one but prolly wont happen with my budget. And would it be worth it anyway?
Also need a new tele, this is on offer at play.com. Obviously not a full 1080 but i need a 32" at a minimum and dont wanna pay through the roof. Tele will have to wait for a short while anyway cos ive got other things to pay for first but still thought i would ask.

Re: Monitor and Tele
Have you considered getting a TV you can use for both a monitor and TV? Or don't you have the desk space?

Re: Monitor and Tele
It's a possibility but really i want them seperate cos my Dad uses it for Sports sometimes when my mum claims the TV for Holby City and he cant see the champions league and stuff Poor bloke.
But yeah, i want a 32" tele and the monitor seperate, 19" is more than enough for me monitor wise. I've been using the 18.4" screen on laptop that is plenty big enough.

Re: Monitor and Tele
The description of the monitor contradicts itself. Product title says 16:10 but the description says 4:3 although the resolution is widescreen.
Will have a look at some other choices tonight.

Re: Monitor and Tele
The screens themselves are only really made by 3-4 companies but there are 10-20 different major manufacturers who sell TVs. A lot of them use the same panels, others will be more exclusive to higher end brands.
As for unbranded, I imagine Hitachi have their reasons. It may be down to the fact that the screens were outdated from manufacturer so they didn't put a badge on to be able to sell them quicker or to sell on to other companies to put their brand on but it has gone straight to customers rather than another manufacturer.

Re: Monitor and Tele
Does it mean it's crap though lol? Price seems low for any kind of 1080p tele. My current TV is about 28" I think, so 26" might be too small anyway really.
Other thing is, unless you go above 32" do you really need 1080p? I don't want to spend £300+ on a TV that i need my ladyfriend to help pay for and then find i dont like the picture Cos taht 32" samsung is getting mighty tempting for 3 large ones.

Re: Monitor and Tele
1080p won't really be too noticeable on anything below 36".
And it also depends on what source materials do you have? If you are only watch terestrial TV on it, that is no way near 1080p. Most 360 games don't do 1080p, may is 1080i/720p.
Personally if it is just a TV for the bedroom on a budget aim for an HD ready (720p/1080i) that fits your budget.

Re: Monitor and Tele
Well, I will be getting Blu Ray (or, possibly a ps3 as a joint venture lol) and a V+ box. But I'm not sure all the hd channels are 1080p anyway.

Never heard of the retailer though.

Re: Monitor and Tele
No TV is 1080p. All HD TV is 1080i.
Most PS3 games like 360 games are 1080i as well. If you are using the 360 for BluRays then they will be outputted in 1080p, although on a small screen you probably won't benefit.
My 24" monitor is 1080p but I can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.
