been titting about in bios today , just wondering if im gonna update it how do i go about it, download it from asus site/put it on ?? disk??floppy?/then how do i install it??

Its installed via a bootable floppy, what mainboard do you have, this wont solve your current problem though.

and also whats your current bios revision.

Some of the newer ASUS boards have the flashing program built in to the BIOS, so you just need a CD, USB Stick or floppy with the new downloaded BIOS on it.

If it doesn't have that feature you will have to download the flash utility that is on ASUS' website and put it on a floppy.

And as power says it won't fix your problem, but it is good to do anyway.

just thought id have a go seeing as ive never had to do it. my board is A8N-SLI-SE having said that i have a disk that came with it. im not sure if there is any updates available for it but i can look.

Had a quick look, Skel was right it can be installed now in windows, totally forgot cos thats how i have to upgrade the bios with my M/B.

Version 0502 2006/03/24 update

Description A8N-SLI SE Bios version 0502
1- Fixed system hangs on POST while installing some PCI-E x16 VGA cards.
2- Update AWDFLASH to V1.17

I didn't mean through Windows :)

On the P5B Deluxe, during POST, you can press F2, I think it is, or go in to the BIOS and chose the flash BIOS option, so you don't need a floppy disk, and it fully supports USB sticks too which is good.

If it works through Windows properly then do it, but I would be apprehensive about doing it through Windows.
