Its installed via a bootable floppy, what mainboard do you have, this wont solve your current problem though.

Some of the newer ASUS boards have the flashing program built in to the BIOS, so you just need a CD, USB Stick or floppy with the new downloaded BIOS on it.
If it doesn't have that feature you will have to download the flash utility that is on ASUS' website and put it on a floppy.
And as power says it won't fix your problem, but it is good to do anyway.

just thought id have a go seeing as ive never had to do it. my board is A8N-SLI-SE having said that i have a disk that came with it. im not sure if there is any updates available for it but i can look.

Had a quick look, Skel was right it can be installed now in windows, totally forgot cos thats how i have to upgrade the bios with my M/B.

I didn't mean through Windows
On the P5B Deluxe, during POST, you can press F2, I think it is, or go in to the BIOS and chose the flash BIOS option, so you don't need a floppy disk, and it fully supports USB sticks too which is good.
If it works through Windows properly then do it, but I would be apprehensive about doing it through Windows.
