MGS I was mad on. That game.

I was into the old PC though so when I turned up to school with a magazine that had a review of half life opposing force nobody had any idea what it was. Muppets. That's why FF and MGS were so popular, they were on the PSX. Also C&C came out on it as well, was it red alert then Tiberium Sun? I have no idea how anyone used to play an RTS with a shitty PSX controller! Imagine Starcraft 2 lol.

I played a shed load of actiony type games on the playstation and didn't really get into the whole RPG thing till a bit later on. After Deus Ex sparked my interest that was when I started trying some more RPG's. I guess if Final Fantasy was a new game now, or if I had played a couple more RPG's back then, ten I may have tried it.

So is there one that you could pick up and play having never touched any of them before?

I would say VI but you would need to be able cope with the old graphics.

If you couldn't cope with the old graphics, then I would say 12 would be better than 13 (purely due to the 20 hour tutorial) but they are nothing like the early games.

8 was my first, but that was a few years after going round to a friends house watching him play FF9 when that came out. I didn't have a PS at the time, I was still playing old games on my Amiga 1200 and even got the Sega Mastersystem out on occasion (Alex the Kid + Sonic).

Other than X-2 and XIII, I think FFVIII is one of the most hated (although some love it, I think it was pretty good, probably because it was my first one).

Your being very negative regarding the series. All the games are amazing. FFVII has been voted the greatest game off all time more times than any other game bar Zelda, when Famitsu done the top 100 games of all time FFX was number 1! ( yet you insist on saying its shit, when its actually a fuckin EPIC game) while VII, VIII and IX all being in the top 20 - FFIX is classed as one of the most underrated games ever.

Bear in mind Rev this is Skels PERSONAL point of view.... only about 10% of which i agree with. I still think you should defo give one of them ago, probly IX to begin with.

I don't think I have ever said any are shit. In my previous post I was just pointing out some major flaws in some of the games. Apart from those flaws they are brilliant games.

Although I will disagree that X deserves 100/100 (I'm pretty sure it got it some Japanese magazine), 90 tops and definitely shouldn't be #1 on a top 100 list, not even the best Final Fantasy let alone best game. X was the first game to bring in voice actors and it ruined a large part of the game, I was quite content with subtitles.

IX is by far the most underrated of the series.

And for what it's worth. FF VI > FF VII.

We all know the original Deus Ex was the top game. Well, the top PC game... PCZone, which sadly no longer exists also agreed that it was.

I just felt like putting my usual argumentative type post before bed :P

I'll take a look at some FFIX info at work tomorrow as well.

Just looked a walkthrough to see what was at the disc 1 finish and disc 2 start. From memory, disc one is pretty short if that is how far you get.
